Nuclear Superfund sites

Nuclear facilities deal with substances that are by their very nature radioactive and therefore highly dangerous. Extreme care needs to be taken when handling such elementas as plutonium, uranium, radium, thorium, and radon, but improper storage and disposal practices of certain facilities have lead to the release of these hazardous substances, prompting the inclusion on the Superfund's National Priorities List.
