Earthquakes

Earthquakes are natural hazards, but human activity increasingly alters the stresses in the Earth's crusts, sometimes inducing seismicity. Reservoirs that hold huge masses of water increase the pressure on the rock below and can trigger relatively large earthquakes. Construction of tall buildings and mining have also been known to induce earthquakes.
