Nuclear accidents

Severe nuclear accidents are very rare, but they highlight the diligent attention to safety that this technology requires. In the public's mind, Chernobyl and Three Mile Island stand as two of the worst industrial accidents in history. Such risks must be objectively balanced against those associated with coal, wind, solar and other energy sources used to generate electricity.
