Urban and industrial areas are especially vulnerable to servere pollution or smog incidents. Smog, which results from the mixture of various emissions from automobiles and industries (including sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide, and volatile organic compounds), not only fills the air with a thick fog, but is also known to cause a number of health problems, especially respiratory ailments.
