Consumption and Efficiency

Energy is used in four broad segments of society: industry, households, commercial buildings and transportation.  Energy efficiency refers to how effectively energy is used to perform a specific task, such as lighting or heating a room, transporting a person or a good, or operating a computer. Improving the efficiency of light fixtures, cars, appliances, building envelopes and other energy using devices has multiple benefits.The efficient use of energy reduces the cost of energy purchases, reduces pollution and waste, and creates new economic opportunities.
