Inkai uranium mine

Inkai is an in situ recovery uranium mining project located in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Inkai deposit is located in south central Kazakhstan, about 370 km from the regional capital of Shymkent and some 1 000 km northwest of Almaty. It is owned and operated by Joint Venture Inkai (JVI), which is owned by Cameco (60%), the large Canadian uranium producer, and KazAtomProm (40%), the state-controlled uranium company in Kazakhstan. Commercial production was expected  to begin in 2009.
